Accutane Drug Information

Accutane belongs to a group of drugs called retinoids. It is in actuality a form of Vitamin A and is used for treatment and averting severe nodular acne in patients who have not responded to prior treatment with antibiotics, other medicaments or diet. It is also used (by both teenagers and adults) for faster and better healing of skin sores provoked by severe acne. The generic drug works by reducing the secretion of sebum – an oily substance excreted from oil secreting glands. Excessive oil production causes skin inflammation which, when left untreated, may lead to serious skin wounds resulting in permanent scars.

Accutane Dosage Information

The recommended Isotretinoin dose is 0.5 mg/kg or 1.0 mg/kg body weight a day divided into two equal doses. If the severity of the acne requires higher doses, the daily dose of Accutane may be increased to a maximum of 2.0 mg/kg body weight. Cheap Accutane should always be taken with a meal for faster absorbing and better treatment results. Discount Accutane in single dosages of 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg is now available for customers’ use at North Meds.

Side Effects and Precautions for Accutane

Among the less serious side effects of Isotretinoin are back pain, drowsiness, irritability, dry skin, lips or mouth, cracking or peeling skin and rash. Less frequently some grave adverse reactions might be experienced: sleeping disorders, numbness, hearing problems, severe upper stomach pain, lack of appetite, heavy diarrhea, flu-like symptoms, easy bruising or bleeding.

A consult with a healthcare provider is needed prior to taking Accutane in cases of heart disease, asthma, diabetes, liver disease, anorexia or osteoporosis. In extremely rare occasions treatment with the drug can be associated with erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis. Pregnant women should never buy Accutane and use it as it is proved to cause severe birth defects. The medicament is also contraindicated for treatment of nursing mothers.
