Afinitor Drug Information

Afinitor is an anti-cancer drug that is indicated mainly for the treatment of Renal Cell Carcinoma. Treatment with this generic medication is considered in those patients who have failed to respond appropriately to sunitinib and sorafenib therapy. This medication is also used to treat a condition called Subependymal Giant Cell Astrocytoma, or SEGA, that occurs in association with Tuberous Sclerosis. Afinitor brings about its action by inhibiting a substance called mTOR, a crucial component of the cancer pathway in humans. These tablets are to be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed.

Afinitor Dosage Information

The daily recommended dosage of Everolimus is 10 mg in advanced cases of Renal Cell Carcinoma. The tablets are to be swallowed with a glass of water. For patients with SEGA dosage is individualized and depends on the Body Surface Area of the patient and can range from 2.5 mg to 7.5 mg per day. Orders for discount Afinitor may be placed at North Meds’ pharmacy- an easy and trusted location. Cheap Afinitor is available at doses of 5 mg and 10 mg at North Meds.

Side Effects and Precautions for Afinitor

Cough, diarrhea, muscular weakness, stomatitis and fatigue are the most commonly reported side effects of Afinitor. Apart from these, less commonly pneumonitis, dyspnoea and dehydration may also be seen. Before they buy Afinitor, patients must make the doctor aware of any other medication they may be taking as several drugs, like dexamethasone, rifampin and carbamazepine, can cause a decrease in Everolimus concentration. Patients with infections like pneumonitis must be cautious before consuming this medication. As this medication does have potential to cause harm to a developing fetus, pregnant women must avoid using it. Also, it is recommended that even after completion of treatment with this drug, patients use appropriate means of contraception up to eight weeks after discontinuing the drug.< p>
