Alinia Drug Information

Alinia tablets are used to treat protozoal infections in children. The two chief protozoa that this medication is effective against are Giardia Lamblia and Cryptosporidium Parvum. These infections are mainly characterized by diarrhea. This generic drug interferes with an important step in the protozoan anaerobic metabolism pathway and thereby cuts off energy to the protozoa. Although this is its main mechanism of action, researchers contend that there may be other means that Alinia employs to bring about its anti-protozoal effect. It is not used in patients about the age of twelve as its effectiveness in such patients has not been established yet.

Alinia Dosage Information

You can buy Alinia mainly in the form of Nitazoxanide tablets. Since this medication is used mainly in the treatment of children, swallowing tablets may be a concern. For patients under the age of one, Alinia oral suspensions may be prepared with water. The recommended dose of the tablets is 500 mg. These tablets are commonly available as “3-day therapy packs”. North Meds, a leading pharmacy, accepts orders for cheap Alinia 500 mg tablets. Ordering safe and discount Alinia has never been this easy.

Side Effects and Precautions for Alinia

Pain in the abdomen, diarrhoea, nausea and headache are the most commonly seen side effects of Alinia. Other than that muscular weakness, anemia, dizziness, rash, itching skin and flu-like symptoms may also be seen with the use of this medication. Hypersensitivity (allergy) to the principal ingredient of this formulation- Nitazoxanide- is an absolute contraindication to the use of this drug. Patients on Warfarin therapy must take precautions before undergoing treatment with this drug as adverse interactions between the two drugs is a possibility. The safety and efficacy of this medication in pregnant women and nursing mothers has not been established clearly yet and such patients are, therefore, advised to refrain from consuming it.< p>
