Boniva Injection
* IBANDRONATE
Boniva Drug Information
Boniva is a Bisphosphonate drug that is used to control resorption of bone that is mediated by certain specialized cells called osteoclasts. It is prescribed in post-menopausal women to prevent the occurrence of osteoporosis in them. This generic medication not only prevents resorption of bone, but also helps increase its density. It brings about its action by inhibiting the action of osteoclasts and also due to its high affinity for the hard minerals present in the bone. By means of both these mechanisms, the bone turn-over time is reduced.
