Camptosar Injection Drug Information

Camptosar is an antineoplastic medicine, a member of the medical family of topoisomerase I inhibitors. It is used for treatment of carcinoma of the colon and rectum. The generic medicament is generally used in a combination with 5-fluorouracil (anticancer agent) and leucovorin. It is also administered for treatment of cancer of the colon in case of recurrence or progress after an unsuccessful therapy with fluorouracil. The drug interferes with the development of cancer cells, impedes their growth and slows down their spread in the body. The drug can either be synthesized or naturally extracted from Camptotheca acuminate – a plant rich in the drug’s main component.

Camptosar Injection Dosage Information

There are two dosage schedules of applying Irinotecan – a weekly schedule and an once-every-three-week’s schedule. The initial dose of Camptosar Injection when applied once every week is 125 mg/m² IV with dosage levels being gradually modified to 100 mg/m² IV and 75 mg/m² IV. The starting dose of cheap Camptosar when applied once every three weeks is 350 mg/m² IV, with subsequent levels going down to 300 mg/m² IV and 250 mg/m² IV. Side Effects and Precautions for Camptosar Injection

As every other medicine Irinotecan might cause some side effects, the most frequent of them being dizziness, skin rash, lack of appetite or constipation, temporary loss of hair.
