Elitek Drug Information

Elitek prevents the increase in levels of uric acid in blood. Such increased levels may occur in patients undergoing chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer such as lymphoma, leukemia and solid malignant tumors. This drug is a type of urate-oxidase enzyme. Chemotherapy results in a release of large amounts of uric acid into the blood. This generic drug aids the process of removing excess uric acid from the body. Please inform your doctor if you have a history of blood disorder like methemoglobinemia or hemolysis.

Elitek Dosage Information

The recommended initial dosage of Elitek is 0.2 mg/kg. The medicine is meant to be taken as an intravenous infusion over a period of 30 minutes. The infusion is taken daily for 5 days. Avoid overdose of this drug as it can cause serious side effects. Elitek should not be taken as a bolus injection.
