Leukeran Drug Information

Leukeran is an antineoplastic anti-cancer chemotherapy medicament also categorized as a bifunctional alkylating agent. The drug is administered for treating chronic lymphatic leukemia, Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia, thrombocythemia, choriocarcinoma, Hodgkin's disease and several types of cancer including ovarian, testicular and breast cancer. The generic drug performs its function by linking to the RNA and DNA of cancerous cells, blocking RNA and DNA synthesis thus retarding cancerous cells growth and inhibiting their eventual multiplication and further spread in the body. It is important to know that the medicine does not cure any of the diseases it is indicated for, it relieves patients’ condition and slows down cancer progress.
