Lexiva Drug Information

Lexiva (fosamprenavir calcium) is a prodrug of amprenavir, an inhibitor of HIV protease. It focuses on decreasing the viruses in the bloodstream. This drug is combined with other drugs in an effort to destroy the retroviruses in the bloodstream. Its chemical name is Fosamprenavir. People that use standard or generic Lexiva usually follow the dosage of 4 tablets in a day. Further, the patient may need to change their food habits and the schedule to get the optimum benefit from the drug. This drug can also be purchased in oral pill form. You will need to consult a doctor in order to get a correct prescription for this drug.

Lexiva Dosage Information

Lexiva is usually prescribed with dosages of antiretroviral medication such as Ritonavir. It is imperative that patients take Lexiva on an empty stomach. If it is the first time that a patient is introduced to this drug, 1400 mg is the right dosage to be taken twice every day without auxiliary medication. If you take Lexiva along with 100 mg of Ritonavir, it is necessary that you take only one 1400 mg pill a day. If the patient has already taken protease inhibitor drugs before, the patient can choose to take 700 mg Lexiva along with 100 mg Ritonavir pills twice every day. However, children need to be careful with the dosage because it completely depends on the body weight. If the child is not new to therapy, a dosage of 30 mg/kg can be prescribed for him while for children new to therapy; 18 mg/kg is a good dosage. For hepatic impaired patients, it is recommended that the dosage be reduced to 350 mg twice every day. North Meds offers the best cheap Lexiva and discount Lexiva.

Side Effects and Precautions for Lexiva

The most common side effects that patients normally face are vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, rashes accompanied by flashes of headache. Sometimes, there are more volatile side effects of brand or generic Lexiva that include fatal rashes that are bound to affect the patient at any point of time during the treatment. Further, the reactions that other medications produce with Lexiva can be harmful – for instance, St.John’s Wort has been known to affect the patient by producing severe skin allergies and rashes. It is better to avoid drugs like Recainide, Propafenone, medications derived from Cisparide, Ergot, Simvastatin, Pimozide, Lovastatin, Midazolam, Triazolam and Delaviridine. It is recommended that people check for liver damage occasionally and monitor their blood sugar levels frequently before they buy Lexiva.
