Maxalt Drug Information
Maxalt is a medicine, stocked in the form of traditional tablets, used for treating severe headache (also known as migraine) in adults. It is a member of the triptan family medications and is one of the so called selective 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonists. This medication is also used to ease symptoms accompanying migraine, such as vomiting, nausea, light and sound irritability. Its main component effects serotonin (a chemical naturally found in human’s organism) by constricting brain blood vessels. It is important to know that this generic drug is available with doctor’s prescription only and should not be used for treatment of headache caused by heavy conditions.
Maxalt Dosage Information
Clinical studies prove that single doses of 5 mg to 10 mg of Rizatripan Benzoate (Maxalt active component) are enough to relieve severe headache. Tests show that in majority of patients treated with 10 mg dose, a better effect and faster relief has been achieved. You should, however, be aware that individual dosage of cheap Maxalt tablets should be given by your doctor in order to rule out any contrary outcome. Discount Maxalt is now offered by North Meds in 5 mg and 10 mg dosage tablets.
Side Effects and Precautions for Maxalt
As every other medicine, Maxalt also might have some unwelcome side effects though they are relatively rare and could be very easily treated by your GP. Based on clinical studies of Rizatripan Benzoate effect on people taking it, the following side effects have been noted most commonly: dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue or weakness, nausea, abnormal sensations, chest pain or dry mouth. Other rarer side effects of the drug could be shortness of breath, bloody diarrhea, allergic reaction, hallucinations or tachycardia. When patients buy Maxalt tablets, they should be very cautious if they suffer from illnesses affecting the absorption, metabolism, or excretion of medicaments; if they have moderate hepatic insufficiency due to an increase in plasma concentrations or if they take certain antidepressants that could expand the risk of developing a serotonin symptom.
