Natacyn Drug Information
Natacyn is a highly efficient antifungal medicine available as a solution to be applied in the eyes. It is used for treatment of fungal infections of the eye lining, the eyelid and the cornea of the eye caused by a wide range of fungi and mainly by Fusariform Solani. The generic medicament is most commonly administered for treating fungal conjunctivitis, blepharitis and keratitis. Its high efficiency is due to its characteristic to interfere with the action of a great variety of fungal organisms and to divest fungi of essential substances necessary for their existence. Natacyn Dosage Information
Recommended initial dose of Natamycin used on patients with fungal keratitis is one drop dripped into the conjunctival sac of the eye every hour or every two hours. After first 3 or 4 days of treatment dosage may be decreased to 6 or 8 drops of Natacyn a day. Side Effects and Precautions for Natacyn
Natamycin is generally a safe medicament and is not expected to cause any side effects. It can sometimes cause temporary irritation and redness of the eyes.
