Nevanac Drug Information
Nevanac is an ophthalmic suspension a part of the medical class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is administered for reducing swelling, redness, inflammation and postoperative pain of the eye in patients who have had a cataract eye surgery. The generic medicine performs its function by impeding prostglandins action (prostglandins being chemicals naturally found in human body and bringing about swelling and pain). The medicament is a short-term pain reliever and should not be used for more than 14 days after eye surgery. The drug may sometimes be administered together with other ophthalmic medications – alpha-agonists, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, beta-blockers or any other medicaments prescribed by the healthcare professional.
Nevanac Dosage Information
Treatment with Nepafenac should start one day before eye surgery. Recommended dose of Nevanac is one drop applied to the affected eye three times a day – beginning on the day before surgery, on the day of the surgery and during the first 2 weeks after surgery. If no relief from pain and inflammation has been achieved higher doses of cheap Nevanac might be prescribed. Discount Nevanac as 0.1 % suspension is now available at North Meds.
Side Effects and Precautions for Nevanac
Nepafenac is commonly well-tolerated by patients and may cause only a few unwanted effects such as irritation, redness or sticky feeling in the eye, dry or watery eye, higher sensitivity to light, stuffy nose or headache. A doctor should better be seen in these cases. Patients should not buy Nevanac or use it without prior consult with a physician if they are allergic to any of its components or if they suffer from arthritis, diabetes, hemophilia or dry eye syndrome.
Such patients might require special dosage adjustments. Patients with contact lenses should remove the lenses when applying Nevanac and put them back not earlier than 15 minutes after application. The drug should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to the possible harm it may bring to the fetus or the nursed baby.
