Nexium Drug Information
The drug is administered in order to reduce gastric acidity by acting on the gastric proton pump and to maintain the amount of acid in the stomach. It is also indicated for short-term treatment of erosive esophagitis, as well as for short-term treatment of heartburn or other symptoms associated with GERD in both adults and children. Nexium is also indicated for the reduction of gastric ulcers in the course of continuous NSAID therapy in patients prone to gastric ulcers; in the treatment of patients with H. pylori infection or duodenal ulcer disease; in the long-term treatment of pathological hypersecretory conditions, including Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.
