Niaspan Drug Infromation
The drug is administered to patients with high cholesterol levels who are at risk of ischemic heart disease. It contains Vitamin B3, included as an adjunct to the diet to make it a balanced one. The deficiency of Vitamin B3 can lead to diarrhea, dermatitis and dementia. The drug is usually administered to patients to improve triglyceride or cholesterol status, by raising the level of good cholesterol and lowering the level of bad cholesterol.
Niaspan Drug Dosage
The drug is administered at bedtime, following a snack low in fats. The initial dosage is 500 mg in the course of 4 weeks, with subsequent 5 to 8 week maintenance therapy. During the maintenance period the dosage should not exceed 2000 mg (usually a 1000 mg dosage is recommended). Customers can buy Niaspan in dosages of 500 mg, 750 mg and 1000 mg. Side Effects and Precautions for Niaspan
