Pegintron Drug Information
Pegintron is a synthetically made substance identical to the proteins naturally found in human body helping the body to fight against viral infections. It is used as a mono-therapy for treatment of chronic hepatitis C in adults (over 18 years-old) who have not been administered a prior treatment with interferon alfa. The generic drug is also prescribed as a combined therapy (together with ribavirin) for treatment of chronic hepatitis C in patients (over 3 years-old) who have symptoms of liver disease. Medical researchers have still not made it clear whether the drug can completely suppress hepatitis C virus and totally expel it from the body.
