Plavix Drug Information:
Plavix is used for treating patients who have recently suffered from myocardial infarction (MI), established peripheral vascular disease, heart attack or stroke. All these conditions are caused by blood clots stuck in narrowed arteries, thus impeding smooth blood circulation. The generic drug successfully prevents heart attacks and strokes by restraining platelets from clustering together and forming blood clots – thrombi being the main reason for heart diseases in patients. The medicine can also be used in combination with aspirin for treatment of aggravating thorax pain and unstable angina or for prevention of formation of curdled blood after cardiac stent, balloon angioplasty or coronary artery bypass procedures.
Plavix Dosage Information:
The recommended dose of clopidogrel bisulfate is 75 mg taken once a day with or without a meal, preferably with a whole glass of water. For treatment of non-ST-elevation ACS, an initial dose of 300 mg of cheap Plavix should be taken, followed by a daily dose of 75 mg (combined with aspirin). For treatment of STEMI, a daily dose of 75 mg of Plavix is recommended taken together with aspirin. Patients can now buy discount Plavix from North Meds in individual dosages of 75 mg and 300 mg.
Side Effects and Precautions for Plavix:
The reception of clopidogrel bisulfate is generally well-tolerated (similar to that of aspirin). In some cases, however, it may cause intensive bleeding or bruising, stomachache, pruritis, diarrhea or constipation. Immediate medical care should be sought if treatment with Plavix causes heavy internal bleeding (in the stomach or intestines), nose or mouth bleeding, blood in the urine, vomiting blood, balance problems, heavy chest pain or fever.
