* IMIPENEM/CILASTATIN SODIUM
Primaxin Drug Information:
Primaxin is a beta-lactam carbapenem-type antibiotic applied as an injection into a muscle or vein. It is indicated for treating infections caused by bacteria in various parts of the body. The generic drug works by killing the bacteria or stopping their growth and could in some cases be used in combination with other antibiotics for achieving better medical results. The medicament is indicated for fighting lower respiratory tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynecological and skin infections. It will not fight or relieve symptoms caused by viruses, colds or flu.
Primaxin Dosage Information:
Imipenem and Cilastatin Sodium are used intramuscularly only. Patients with lower respiratory tract infections, gynecological infections, skin and skin structure infections should be injected with between 500 mg and 750 mg of cheap Primaxin every twelve hours (depending on severity of infections). Patients with intra-abdominal infections should be treated with 750 mg of Primaxin every twelve hours. Daily dosage should not exceed 1500 mg. Discount Primaxin is now offered for patients’ use in separate dosages of 250/250 mg and 500/500 mg at North Meds.
Side Effects and Precautions for Primaxin:
During course of treatment with Imipenem and Cilastatin Sodium, some light side effects may be experienced – they do not need medical help as they will subside when patient’s body adjusts to the medicine. These light conditions may be nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. Some patients that are more sensitive to Primaxin components might have more serious side effects that require urgent doctor’s attention; convulsions, drowsiness, skin itches or rash, fever, intensive sweating, unusual fatigue, renal failure, watery or bloody diarrhea. Patients with penicillin-intolerance should not buy Primaxin or have it injected as they could develop hypersensitivity to the medicament. Pregnant and nursing women should be subjected to this medicine treatment only after doctor’s prescription as there are not medical studies clarifying the effect of the drug on the fetus or the baby.
