* TACROLIMUS

Prograf Drug Information:

Prograf is a member of a group of drugs called immunosuppressants. It is recommended to be used in combination with other medicaments (adrenal corticosteroids) to lower body’s defense system (immune system). The generic drug is administered to patients who have had organ transplantation (kidney, liver or heart transplants). Immune system fights all infections in the body and can sometimes reject transplanted organs as it treats them as an unidentified threat. The medicament lessens immunity by decreasing the activity of T lymphocytes accountable for transplanted organs rejection and in this way helping body adopt the new organs.

Prograf Dosage Information:

Tacrolimus dosages should be individually determined depending on patient’s rejection and tolerability. The general starting daily dose of cheap Prograf in cases of kidney transplantation is between 0.10 mg/kg and 0.20 mg/kg. The usual initial dose of Prograf when treating adults with liver transplantation is between 0.10 mg/kg and 0.15 mg/kg a day. The recommended primary dose for adults with heart transplants is 0.075 mg/kg daily. Discount Prograf can be found at North Meds in separate 0.5 mg, 1 mg and 5 mg capsules.

Side Effects and Precautions for Prograf:

As most drugs, Tacrolimus might sometimes cause minor side effects that would need doctor’s attention only in case of persistence. These conditions are constipation, diarrhea, nausea, stomach disorders, vomiting, back pain or joint pain. A few patients taking Prograf might extremely rarely experience graver side effects such as skin hives, swelling of lips, tongue or throat, fever, urination disorders, depression, uncommon bruising or bleeding, shortness of breath, trouble of speech, vision problems. In such cases urgent medical care is required. Patients should buy Prograf and use it only after they have discussed with their doctor their medical history in full details, particularly in cases of kidney disease, liver disease, hypertension, cancer or any type of body infection. Pregnant women can use the drug only when benefits overbear the possible harm to the fetus.
