The drug is used to cure diabetes induced skin ulcers on lower extremities. It helps the tissue to grow and heal fast. Side Effects and Precautions for Regranex
Side effects include infection, osteolyelitis, cellulites. Hands should be properly washed before administering Becaplermin. It is applied with a cotton swab or a similar application tool. No other gels, creams or ointments should be applied at the site of the wound. The ulcer is rinsed with water or saline solution to take off the remainder of the gel. Then cover with saline moistened dressing. The tube tip should be free from contamination. If reactions occur on the application site, irritation or sensitization owing to parabens or m-cresol may be considered.
