Relafen Drug Information

The drug is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory one and is used to treat inflammation owing to rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis. It suppresses the actions of pain mediating hormones called prostaglandins and leads to a relief of pains, stiffness and swelling caused by arthritis. Relafen Drug Dosage

The initial dosage is 1000 mg taken as a single dosage. With patients weighing less than 50 kg dosage adjustment may be required. Side Effects and Precautions for Relafen

Common side effects of Nabumetone include nausea, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, vomiting and weight gain. Severe side effects comprise headache, fatigue, insomnia, excessive sweating, tinnitus, photosensitivity, liver toxicity, anemia owing to fluid retention. Patients on other medications, especially lithium based ones, should be cautious when they use discount Relafen as it may elevate lithium levels. The drug may cause edema in patients with hypertension or congestive heart failure. It should be avoided by patients with stomach ulcers, patients on blood thinners, pregnant or breastfeeding women. In long corticosteroid therapy, abrupt corticosteroids discontinuation may lead to disease exacerbation. Relafen should not be given to patients with aspirin sensitivity and should be administered with caution in asthmatic patients.
