Trecator Drug Information
Trecator is an antibiotic drug that is used for the treatment and prevention of bacterial growth in the body. This generic drug is also quite commonly used for the treatment of tuberculosis or TB. It is also used along with other anti-tuberculosis medications, which are also used for treating TB and other mycobacterial infections. Just like any other antibiotic medications, this drug also works very efficiently when maintained at constant levels in the body.
Side effects and Precautions for Trecator
Some of the common side effects of Trecator include vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, drowsiness, abdominal pains and dizziness. If any of these side effects persist, contact your doctor and seek medical attention. Using Ethionamide can also cause serious side effects like yellow skin, dark urine, abnormal behavior, numbness or tingling sensation in your feet and hands, seizures and blurred vision. If you have any of these side effects, seek immediate medical attention, otherwise, they can lead to serious complications.
Before taking Trecator or Ethionamide, inform your doctor if you are allergic to it or to any other drug. Trecator Dosage Information
The minimum recommended dosage of Trecator is 15 mg to 20 mg / kg and is administered orally once daily. This therapy is initiated at 250 mg daily and can be increased based upon the patient’s tolerance levels. The maximum dosage for children is 10 mg to 20 mg every day in 2 to 3 divided doses and should be taken after meals. Otherwise, it can also be taken as a single dose of 15 mg per kilo every 24 hours.
