Ultravate Drug Information

Ultravate is a high potency steroid that is used in treating the symptoms of itching and inflammation caused due to a variety of skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis and allergic reactions. This is a topical medication that helps in reducing the actions of chemicals in the body that cause redness, swelling or inflammation. Your doctor may prescribe this medication for other purposes than what they are indicated for on a case-to-case basis.

Side effects and Precautions for Ultravate

Stop using Halobetasol Topical and seek immediate medical attention if you have severe irritation on the treated skin or if you display signs of absorbing through your skin. Ultravate can cause serious side effects like blurred vision, mood changes, weight gain, insomnia, puffiness of the face, feeling tired and muscle weakness. This generic drug may also cause lesser side effects like thinning or softening of your skin, mild rash, itching, burning, dryness or redness of the skin, numbness or tingling, spider veins, blisters, pimples or crusting of the treated skin, stretch marks and changes in the color of the treated skin.

Do not use Halobetasol Topical if you are allergic to it. Before using this drug, inform your doctor if you have any type of skin infection and whether you are allergic to any drug. Do not use Ultravate if you are pregnant or planning for a pregnancy during the medication period as this drug can harm the unborn baby.

Ultravate Dosage Information

This drug is available as Ultravate Cream 0.05% and Ultravate Ointment 0.05%. The recommended dosage should not exceed beyond 50 g per week and the treatment period should not exceed two consecutive weeks. This drug is not recommended for children below 12 years of age.
