* MEBENDAZOLE
Vermox Drug Information
Vermox belongs to a group of medicines called anthelmintics. It is a broad-spectrum drug indicated for treating stomach infections caused by a variety of worms. The generic medicament is administered for managing intestinal infections inflicted by different worms including common roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, pinworms and is also prescribed in cases of multi-worm infections. The medicine works by impeding worms from absorbing sugar (glucose) and nutrients that are essential for their growth. It gradually leads to worms’ lack of energy and eventual death. All stomach worms are excreted from the intestines only three days after drug intake.

Side Effects and Precautions for Vermox
Sometimes treatment with Mebendazole may not only bring to the desired positive effect, but may also cause some unwanted side effects, the most common of which being stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache or drowsiness. These symptoms are temporary and usually do not need doctor’s attention. If, however, the treatment with Vermox leads to allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching), unusual fatigue or fever, then a doctor should be contacted instantly. Treatment of whipworm and hookworm infections might lead to anemia, therefore iron supplements are usually accompanying the treatment in these cases. As worm infections are very obstinate, toilets should be cleaned thoroughly and regularly during and after infection. Pregnant and nursing women should not buy Vermox or use it due to its harmful effect on the fetus and the newly born baby.
