* MOXIFLOXACIN
Vigamox Drug Information
Vigamox is a sterile ophthalmic solution belonging to a group of drugs called fluoroquinolone antibiotics. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used for treatment of eye infections (such as conjunctivitis) caused by a wide range of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria (it fights against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria). The generic medicament works by blocking a certain enzyme in the bacterial cell (DNA gyrase) which is needed for dividing bacterial DNA and respectively for bacterial cell reproduction. This leads to reduced bacterial cells replication and gradual annihilation of bacteria cells. The drug should be used solely as eye-drops.
