Viracept Drug Information

Viracept is an antiviral medicament, an inhibitor of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) protease. It is usually administered as an adjunctive therapy together with at least two more antiviral medicaments for achieving maximum results. It is used in the treatment of HIV and the resulting acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The generic drug does not cure HIV or AIDS, it helps in the treatment of HIV and reduces the chances of acquiring HIV complications – more severe infections or even cancer. The medicament slows down HIV progress by inhibiting protease multiplication, protease protein being necessary for HIV reproduction.

Viracept Dosage Information

Nelfinavir’s recommended dose for adults is 1250 mg twice a day or 750 mg taken three times a day. The recommended Viracept dose for children (2 to 13 years of age) is 45 mg/kg to 55 mg/kg two times daily or 25 mg/kg to 35 mg/kg three times daily. Cheap Viracept tablets should always be taken with a meal, swallowed or dissolved in water. Separate 250 mg and 625 mg dosages of discount Viracept are now offered for customers’ use at North Meds.

Side Effects and Precautions for Viracept

Usage of Nelfinavir might lead to some mild side effects including nausea, diarrhea, tiredness, headache, lack of appetite, changes of body fat location, breasts enlargement. Some graver side effects requiring urgent medical help are allergic reaction (skin hives, difficult breathing, swelling of parts of the face, throat or tongue), intensive urination, flu symptoms, easy bleeding or bruising, liver toxicity (resulting in jaundice) or lipodystrophy. Patients with liver disease, kidney disease, hemophilia, diabetes or high levels of cholesterol or triglycerides could use Viracept only after individual dosage adjustment. Pregnant women may buy Viracept and use it as it is not harmful to the fetus, considering HIV infection might be transmitted to the baby if the mother is not cured appropriately. Breast-feeding mothers are not to take the medicament.
