Viramune Drug Information

The drug inhibits the growth of HIV virus responsible for AIDS development. It is not used to cure or prevent HIV-1. It delays the growth of the virus by inhibiting the reverse transcriptase enzyme generated by HIV-1 and thus reduces HIV-1 amount in blood. It is used for adjunctive therapy, with other antiretroviral agents. Viramune is effective in impeding HIV-1 virus growth and the benefits outweigh any possible risks.

Viramune Drug Dosage

For adults the Nevirapine dosage is one 200 mg tablet per day for the first 14 days, afterwards one 200 mg tablet twice per day, in conjunction with other antiretroviral agents. With concomitant antiretroviral therapy the manufacturer's recommendations regarding dosage should be observed. In pediatric patients the dosage is 150 mg once per day for 14 days, afterwards 150 mg twice per day. In all patients the daily dosage should not exceed 400 mg. Cheap Viramune is sold in 200 mg brand tablets. At North Meds it is offered in dosages of 200 mg, available as a generic drug.
