Xeomin Drug Information
Xeomin is a neurotoxin complex, a protein synthesized by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. The generic medicament is used for treating cervical dystonia (by reducing abnormal position of the head and pains in the neck in both patients who have or have not previously undertaken this drug treatment) and for treatment of blepharospasms but only in patients who have already been treated with onabotulinumtoxinA (Botox). The medicine works by interfering with nerves and impeding the release of the chemical acetylcholine, acetylcholine being essential for nerves-muscles interrelations. Lower chemical levels lead to limited muscle activities and temporary relief of the symptoms caused by excessive muscle contractions.
Xeomin Dosage Information
Recommended primary dose of Botulinum Toxin Type A when used for treatment of cervical dystonia is 120 units. The dose and the number of injection sites per muscle should be adjusted according to personal muscle spasms, muscle mass, body weight and reaction to previous treatment with Xeomin. The daily dose of cheap Xeomin when administered for treatment of blepharospasms should be identical to the previously applied dose. The general recommended dose is 33 units per eye. North Meds now offers discount Xeomin in single 100 iu dosages.
Side Effects and Precautions for Xeomin
When Botulinum Toxin Type A is administered for treatment of cervical dystonia it may cause some specific side effects such as muscle weakness, drowsiness, numbness, eye pain, back pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stiffness of muscles or dropping of the upper eyelid. Among the most common side reactions of Xeomin when used for treating blepharospasms are bruising or swelling of eyelids, dry or watery eyes, double or unclear vision, paralysis of face muscles or eye muscles, irritation or inflammation of the eye. Patients who buy Xeomin need special dose adjustments if they have myasthenia gravis, asthma, bleeding disorder, heart disease, diabetes or closed angle glaucoma. There is no medical evidence whether the drug affects the fetus in pregnant women or if it is excreted into mother’s milk.
