Zometa Drug Information

Zometa is used for the treatment of high blood calcium levels (known as hypercalcemia) that may occur with cancer. It reduces the amount of calcium released from the bones into the blood. It is used with cancer chemotherapy for the treatment of bone problems that might occur with multiple myeloma and other kinds of cancer (like ling or breast cancer) that have spread to the bones. Zometa belongs to the category of medicines known as bisphosphonates. It also helps in retarding the bone destruction process associated with metastasis.
