* LINEZOLID
Zyvox Drug Information
Zyvox is a synthetic antibiotic of the oxazolidinone group of drugs available in the form of tablets, suspension for oral use and an injection. It is used for treatment of serious infections in the body caused by bacteria resistant to other types of antibiotics. The generic drug is generally administered for management of vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium infections, nosocomial and ccommunity-acquired pneumonia, skin infections and skin structure infections. It works by preventing the bacteria cells from synthesizing proteins, this leading to cessation of bacteria cells growth. The antibiotic treats infections caused by bacteria only and will not be effective in fighting against viral infections.
